Last week, while waiting for my English lecture to begin, I started to flip through a poetry book that I found laying on the floor. It was about the Pre-Raphaelites and there were portraits of the poets in the beginning of the book. One portrait that caught my attention was the one of Algernon Swinburne.![]()
I'm not sure why, but I was fascinated by this picture. Maybe it's because Algernon looks innocent and devious at the same time. And his hair, it's so wild! He looks like a charming rogue straight out of some fantastical pirate story. How intriguing!
My favorite of Algernon's poems is "An Interlude". Here's a link to the poem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
