There's this facebook group called "The guy who discovered milk......what was he doing with the cow?". I believe that there is a fairly reasonable explanation for his discovery. He saw a calf feeding from its momma and thought, "Hey, maybe I can recieve nourishment from that big speckled creature too! Unga!Unga!". Or maybe he saw this commercial:
