Rats

It would be fantastic if I could train a rat into becoming my henchman. I mean, rats are kinda cute when they're not diseased, and if I could put a leash on one of those feisty critters, it'd look pretty fantabulous. And if someone's was giving me trouble I could just be like "Watch out, bitch. My rat will give you rabies". Lawl.

I Want To Learn Japanese

I was watching a documentry about how Japan's population is drastically decreasing. There'll be a lot of job opurtunities in the future and living in Tokyo would be really rad. If my Mustache Museum plans don't work out, I think I shall move to Japan.

Mooo!

There's this facebook group called "The guy who discovered milk......what was he doing with the cow?". I believe that there is a fairly reasonable explanation for his discovery. He saw a calf feeding from its momma and thought, "Hey, maybe I can recieve nourishment from that big speckled creature too! Unga!Unga!". Or maybe he saw this commercial:

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

So I was supposed to go to sleep super early today so I wouldn't be all crazy tomorrow, but I can't stop looking at pictures of insane-o nails. Here are some Wild-West themed nails that I think are fantabulous, mostly because I think cowboys are fantabulous.

Oh Hey Y'all, It's Thanksgiving!

At the moment, I am thankful for pancakes, christmas cupcake candles, purple wigs, miley cyrus dancing around in her cowboy boots, dopamine, the starbucks barista who eavesdrops on my conversations and gives me extra whipped cream, accents, going really high on the swings, the gigantic fluffy teddybear that lives in my room, and the lovely people who read my blog :D

Bearberries (aka Hog Cranberries)!

Bearberries are really peculiar. The berries aren't tasty at all, but the leaves of the plant have kinda magical medicinal properties. According to folklore, bearberries can be used to treat arthritis, back pain, bed wetting, bronchitis, diabetes, headaches, gonorrhea, kidney infections, rheumatism, and much, much more. Over-dosing on bearberries may result in blueish-gray skin.

Also, Algonquins combined bearberries with tobacco and the mixture was called Kinnikinick. LOL.

A Poem That I Fancy

One of my best friends sent a poem to me. It's written by Shel Silverstein and I loveee it.

"In the undergrowth
There dwells the Bloath
Who feeds upon poets and tea.
Luckily I know this about him,
While he knows almost nothing of me."

Excitement!

I was browsing through Wikipedia articles when I found this golden nugget of information:

Miramax Films is in production of a film called 'Gnomeo and Juliet' starring the voice talents of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, set to be released in 2010.

Ok, so, I love James McAvoy because he's Scottish and he was brilliant in Atonement and as Mr.Tumnus in the Chronicles of Narnia, and I love garden gnomes because they are bewitchingly adorable. If you think I'm going to see this movie, you are 100% right mister.

Photographic Evidence

Thanks to information from my dear friend Arizona, I have had a revelation regarding the identity of the evil M&M. In the past I had hypothesized that the blue M&M was evil. However, now I am pretty sure that the red one is the villain. I mean, take a look at this gruesome photo of Red happily playing with someone's internal organs!

In Other News...

I've been awake for 2 hours, I've had 4 cups of coffee, and I want more. This is going to be an interesting day. Also here is a picture of a sculpture by Tsang Cheung entitled The Coffee Kiss.

Breaking News

So yesterday, my dear friend Arizona* told me a very thought provoking fact: "a new study emerged about how the blue dye found in blue M&Ms can help people suffering from spinal injuries and such". I was very shocked to hear this. Has my assumption that the blue M&M's are evil been wrong for all of these years? Maybe the red ones are the true evil masterminds after all. I just don't know what to think anymore.

*Name has been changed to protect my friend from red M&M's once they find out that we know who the real evil M&M's are.

The Bus

Sometimes I see people on the bus that I really wish I was related to. For example, once I saw this precious 11 year old in a suit and he was all by himself and I thought to myself, "If I ever have a son, I want him to look exactly like that boy and he'll be named Charley and one night when my husband refuses to accompany me to a fancy cocktail party because he's busy working on his new business project, I'll be sitting in the parlor dramatically drinking a martini and I'll yell,"Charles, come play a tune for mother!", and Charley will clamber up to our grand piano imported from France and he'll play some complicated symphony and I'll stare at the ceiling and think about how I should have married that artsy guy from college".

A Few More Nifty Pictures From Russia...

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Things I Hate

1- Boiled carrots.
2- This question: "If a tree falls down and nobody hears it, does it make a sound?". Of course it makes a sound!!! It's not like the whole world is set to mute just because a human isn't there to here it.
3- Inconsistent bus drivers.

The World is Kinda Amazing

When I was looking around GoogleEarth, I noticed that some places in Russia have beautifully colored water. It's like this amazing kind of cerulean. I was compelled to find out more about Russia and I discovered that they have some amazing architecture over there. They have everything from kitschy folk houses to victorian mansions to gorgeous castles!

I think I'll put up a few more pictures later cause Russia is totally awesome.

Horoscopes

Some people say that horoscopes are a bunch of mumbo-jumbo. I think this is true regarding to those ridiculous, vague horoscopes that they have in teeny-bopper magazines. However, I think there is a lot of truth to personality descriptions based on zodiac signs. I thinks it's awesome how accurate they can be.

Wowza

So I was taking my weekly stroll through CVS when all of a sudden I see the strangest thing... Strawberried Peanut Butter M&M's!

I just had to buy a pack, although I was a little apprehensive over the strange sounding flavor. The M&M's were actually very good. (I don't know why I was so surprised because all M&M's are good but anyways...) They contained very generous amounts of peanut butter, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The strawberry flavor added a sweet, fruity kick. It was a very interesting combination. Kind of like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (aka my favoritest sandwich ever).

Three Things

1) Sometimes life is really ridiculous.
2) I want to live in a house shaped like a mushroom.
3) In England, farmers are required to give their pigs toys to play with. Cute!

And that's all I have to say for now.

Best Recipe Ever?

M&M Pancakes. I could eat them all day, every day. Of course, the secret is to only use yellow, orange, and brown M&M's because the other colors would taint the pancake batter.

Sandwiches

I've been trying to start conversations about sandwiches with various people. I mean, there's so many things to discuss about sandwiches. Favorite bread? Toasted or not? Favorite toppings and condiments? This can segue into a discussion about favorite cheeses and vegetables, which can segue into a discussion about vegetarianism. And then you could talk about PETA, and their racy ads, and then general commercials that you enjoy watching, and then sandwich commercials, and then you can talk about your favorite sandwich!

Facebook Surveys

I love it when people put effort into answering facebook surveys because you get to learn some pretty darn interesting things about them. Of course, there are some idiotic questions on those surveys, like, "Is heartbreak as bad as they say it is?". There are other questions I like though, like, "What's in your pocket?" or "What color are your walls?". Those are the kind of things I like to know. Like, like, like. I need to expand my vocabulary, lol.

Aloha Kâkou!

The Hawaiian language is wonderfully melodious. Hawaii's state fish, for example is called the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a (HOO-mu-HOO-mu-NOO-ku- NOO-ku-AH-pu-WAH-a). The language is so vibrant and poetic! At the moment, my favorite phrase is "ku`u pua mae`ole" meaning my dear unfading flower. I love you in Hawaiian is said "Aloha wau iâ `oe" (ah-loh-hah-vau-ee-AH-oe).

I Don't Enjoy Conversations on the Telephone

The average person spends about 2 years on the phone in a lifetime. I am not the average person because talking on the phone makes me uncomfortable because I cannot analyze the other person's facial expressions, and so that is why I would only spend 1 year, if even that, on the phone in my lifetime. The end.

Warning: This One's Creepy

I've been a vegetarian for almost two years now. I tell myself that I chose the herbivore lifestyle because of my unconditional love for animals. However, one of my ulterior motives might be that I'm absolutely terrified of cannibalism and I fear that some evil person will one day slip human flesh into my meat.

In Swedish, "Farfar, får får får? Nej, farson, får får inte får, får får lamm" means "Grandfather, may sheep give birth to sheep? No, grandson, sheep may not give birth to sheep, sheep may give birth to lambs." I found that little tid-bit entertaining :D

Insects Are Prettay Clever

You know how like, cavemen used to get their protein from eating insects? Well these days, the people of westernized societies think that consuming bugs is an extremely revolting and corrosive act. Why is that? Maybe the insects of Northern America had harnessed the power of an abandoned alien laboratory from deep within the deserts and they used that energy to modify the human appetite?

Also...

Turtles can breathe through their butts. Tehehehe!

Kittehs Are Strange

Studies show that if a cat falls off the seventh floor of a building it has about thirty percent less chance of surviving than a cat that falls off the twentieth floor. It supposedly takes about eight floors for the cat to realize what is occurring, relax and correct itself. Meow!

Deck of Cards Mustache Update

I have recently found out the following information :

"Each of the suits on a deck of cards represents the four major pillars of the economy in the Middle Ages: Heart represented the church, Spades represented the military, Clubs represented agriculture, and Diamonds represented the merchant class".

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but I personally believe that clergymen are the least sexy of the afore mentioned professions. Hence, the King of Hearts is unable to grow a sexy mustache. Idk, it made sense in my head.

I Quite Like Mustaches

The King of Hearts is the only king without a mustache. How tragic. I can imagine the other three kings making fun of the poor fellow for his lack of masculinity.

Chocolate Perfection

I haven't eaten M&M's for several weeks. What is wrong with me?! I need to get myself to CVS and buy some. If I don't cheap out, maybe I'll even buy the premium M&M's. I've heard they are delicious and I've wanted to try them ever since I read their review from candyaddict.com . Omgsh, I have no idea which flavor I'd choose first.

*I just found out I'm blacklisted from the candyaddict website. Wha???

Grilled Cheese

I am quite the grilled cheese aficionado and am constantly experimenting with ways to make my favorite sandwich. I have tried using the traditional stove top method, as well as a sandwich grilling machine, a panini grill, an oven toaster, and my favorite; the waffle maker. The waffle maker is a bit messy but it presses the bread in all the right places. Yummm.

P.S. In the fantastic movie, Benny and Joon, I just love the part when Sam makes grilled cheese sandwiches using an iron!

Candles

I really really really enjoy scented candles. A few weeks ago I bought a pomegranate apple scented soy-lotion candle from CVS and when the candle wax is melted you can pour it over your hands and use it as a lotion! It smells a bit smokey though. Last Christmas my mum bought me a vanilla lime candle, which was pretty nice, and a Christmas cookie candle, which was heavenly delightful. This Christmas, a lady from my job gave me a candle shaped like a snowman. It's absolutely adorable. Right now, I've got a Mango, Grapefruit & Passion Punch candle lit up. Fruity! The quirkiest named candle I own is Rosy Rhubarb Pie. Well, I could go on and on about my candles so I'll just stop here.

Oh, and right now I'm searching for a peach-scented candle. If anyone finds a good one, let me know in the comments. Cheers!

Factual Information About M&M's

*The little "m's" weren't printed on the delicious confections until 1950, and were originally black.

*Peanut M&M's were originally all brown, until 1960 when they were made in yellow (and also in two other colors which I don't particularly care for)

*In 1976, red M&Ms were removed from packages because the red dye used to color them caused reactions in some people. I knew they were evil! However, they were re-released into the world in 1987 due to popular demand.

hmm

i'm not religious at all, but i find myself listening to "Ave Maria" on repeat all the time.

One Hundred Years of Solitude

I never finished reading One Hundred Years of Solitude [how are you supposed to underline things on this website?] because I had to return it to the goshdarn library. It was really overdue, like, I took it out before Christmas, lol. Anyway, last week I blogged about how much I love the names of the characters. However, after reading further, the names became tedious because everyone named their children the same names over and over again, and this book is about several generations of the Buendia family, so I had a hard time telling everyone apart!

One Hundred Years of Solitude

I'm reading One Hundred Years of Solitude right now. It's so magical, and like, and I've been really fascinated by gypsies for a while. Reading this book is like an explosion of wonderfulness. As much as I love the passionate love affairs and the beautiful descriptions and just the amount of imagination put into this book, I must say, what really appeals to me are the splendid names Marquez uses. God, they're just so beautiful. Melquiades, Aureliano, Arcadio, Remedio Moscote, Don Apolinar, Santa Sofia de la Piedad, Pietro Crespi!

v.v

I just looked up my hometown (Nowa Sarzyna,Poland) on Google Earth and it was overwhelming. I found the local swimming pool, and then my grandma's house, and then my favorite grocery store, and then the park I used to play in when I was little, and by the time I found my cousin Natalia's house I was unbearably sad. God, even seeing all of those roads and bridges that I've walked on made me emotional.

My Brown M&M Theory

I think the brown M&M is secretly Willy Wonka. I mean, brown is the chocolatiest color out there. You can't ask for a better chocolate representative than Willy Wonka.

Algernon Swinburne

Last week, while waiting for my English lecture to begin, I started to flip through a poetry book that I found laying on the floor. It was about the Pre-Raphaelites and there were portraits of the poets in the beginning of the book. One portrait that caught my attention was the one of Algernon Swinburne.

I'm not sure why, but I was fascinated by this picture. Maybe it's because Algernon looks innocent and devious at the same time. And his hair, it's so wild! He looks like a charming rogue straight out of some fantastical pirate story. How intriguing!

My favorite of Algernon's poems is "An Interlude". Here's a link to the poem. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Inspection of M&M's

Let's get to it!

Red:
I totally hate Red's personality. He has a major case of Napoleon Complex. I mean, why else would he be so odious and mentally abusive towards the tall yet sweet and gentle Yellow. The only other reason for his anger issues would be unrequited love. On the M&M's website, it says that Red's turn on is "When people blindly follow his wise advice". Hmmmm...

I don't think there's anything wrong with the red ones taste wise, but I avoid eating the red M&M's anyway, just cuz of the whole red dye #40 bug scare thing.

Orange:
Upon first sight, Orange appears to be an "Average Joe", but I think there is something more to him. He looks like he's hiding a secret. Or maybe he's on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Either way, I find Orange intriguing.

I love eating the orange M&M's. They are delish!

Yellow:
Yellow, Yellow, Yellow. I love that fella' so much. He's my favorite M&M because he's goofy and adorable and his puppy-dog grin makes my heart melt. According to the M&M's website, he likes pretty ladies and fluffy things. *Sigh* What a man.

The yellow
M&M's are the most delectable of all, especially when they're peanut M&M's. Their elongated shape makes them perfect for my preferred method of eating M&M's. First, I bite the M&M in half, and the yellow ones break apart so nicely. Then I eat one chocolate half, and I take the nut out of the other half and blah blah balah it's a long process. Oh, and the color of the yellow M&M's is so bright and cheerful. I love it!

Green:
Skank. That's all I have to say.

I don't eat the green ones because I don't want to contract any diseases. Ew.

Blue:
Blue looks like a pretty chill dude. He plays the saxophone or whatever. I like to think that gives him soul. He has a cool air about him. I bet Red is really jealous of him. Blue kinda reminds me of Fonzie (I don't actually know much about the Fonz, I'm just making this comparison based on what I gathered from Family Guy).

While I don't have anything against Blue, I ABHOR the blue
M&M's. I refuse to eat them ever. EVER!

Brown:
Is Brown even alive? Because I've never seen him.

The brown
M&M's taste prettay good. They're classy, they're chocolaty, they're yum.
